If you’ve ever enjoyed a drink and later forgotten the name, where you had it, or whether you liked it, WatAmI Drinking helps you capture that information quickly. The app allows you to scan bottle labels, record your own notes and ratings, and build a personal collection you can refer back to at any time.
WatAmI Drinking focuses on being easy to use and private, without the complexity of spreadsheets or traditional cellar management apps.

How do I scan a bottle?
Open the app and tap Scan. When prompted, allow camera access and point your camera at the bottle label.
You can scan either the front label or the back label. The back label often contains additional details about the drink, which can help the app identify it more accurately.
Hold the phone steady until the scan completes. Once the drink is identified, you can review the details and save it to your collection.
Why does the app ask for camera access?
The camera is used to scan bottle labels so the app can identify drinks and allow you to save them to your personal collection. Camera access is required for the scanning feature to work.
How do I rate a drink?
After a drink has been saved to your collection, you can assign a rating and add personal notes. This helps you remember what you liked or didn’t like when you come back to it later.
How do search and filtering work?
You can search your collection using the search field at the top of the list. As you type, the results are automatically refined to match your search.
You can also filter your collection to quickly narrow down what you’re looking for. Available filters include:
- All – shows everything in your collection
- Wines – shows wine entries only
- Spirits – shows spirits only
- Favorites – shows drinks you’ve marked as favorites
To mark a drink as a favorite, open the bottle details page and tap the heart icon. You can remove a drink from Favorites by tapping the heart icon again.
Where is my data stored?
All drink information, ratings, and notes you save in WatAmI Drinking are stored locally on your device. The app does not upload your personal drink history to external servers.
Can I edit or delete drinks from my collection?
Yes. You can edit or remove any drink from your collection at any time.
Does the app support both wine and spirits?
Yes. WatAmI Drinking is designed to work with both wines and spirits.
Do I need an account to use the app?
No account is required. You can use all core features of the app without creating an account or signing in.
Troubleshooting
The scan isn’t working
- Make sure the bottle label is clearly visible and well lit
- Hold the phone steady while scanning
- Try scanning the back label if the front label is not recognized
The app doesn’t recognize a bottle correctly
In some cases, the information identified from a label may be incomplete or not fully correct. When this happens, you can review the details, make changes as needed, and save the updated information to your collection.
